Guy Fruda Named Chair of Creating IT Futures Board

GuyFrudaThis month, Guy Fruda of Deloitte ascended to be Creating IT Futures’ board chair, after the last few years as our vice chair. Fruda is the managing director, East Region Technology within Deloitte’s internal information technology services organization and has 25+ years of IT operations and technology consulting experience.

Deloitte’s East Region covers approximately 39,000 practitioners and 165 staff. During his tenure at Deloitte, Fruda has led Deloitte Consulting’s Tri-State IT organization on the strategic / tactical vision for end-user support and has been involved with many large-scale technology transformation/integration programs.

Fruda has held multiple roles at Deloitte, leading IT efforts in India back in February of 2004, overall IT program responsibility for Deloitte University, and for the last two years as the overall IT program leader for a new India Campus Build out in Hyderabad. He is also considered an expert in disaster recovery / business continuity and was responsible for the recovery of Deloitte’s Tri-State offices after 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy.

Beyond working with Creating IT Futures, Fruda has worked with NPower almost 10 years. Fruda said, “They provide tech training to 18 – 25 years olds from underserved communities through the U.S. They also have a focus on veterans, which I found not only a smart thing to do, but also the least we can do to help the men and women of the armed forces who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.”

As our newly appointed chair, Fruda hopes, “to continue with the success of the prior chairs by bridging the gap between technology and under-represented populations across the U.S. and abroad. I believe that /developing-programs/it-ready">IT-Ready’s goal of launching 4,000 IT careers by 2018 is certainly achievable with the help of our program partners.”

Fruda said, he’s been most pleased with our focus on making sure that we are preparing the youth of today for careers in information technology. In the past two years, Creating IT Futures has been working with /developing-programs/early-college-stem-schools">several high schools and community colleges to give their students experience in tech businesses. And now, with our /developing-programs/nextup">NextUp campaign, we’re reaching out to students in middle school.

With Fruda ascending to chair of the board, Tracey Welson-Rossman, chief marketing officer, Chariot Solutions, and founder, TechGirlz, moved to be Creating IT Futures’ vice chair. James Afdahl, vice president, business services and state relationship manager of GED Testing Service, remains on the board as he moves to be Creating IT Futures’ immediate past chair. Excited to start this journey, Fruda said that he looks forward to working with the other board members over the next two years.

Charles Eaton, CEO, Creating IT Futures, added, “Our board members are a great asset in honing our signature IT-Ready career program and developing new launchpads for tech careers. Jim’s leadership as chair these past two years has been invaluable, and as we expand beyond adult-centric workforce development to STEM programs for high school and middle school students, I look forward to working with Guy, Tracey and our diverse board to leverage their in-depth expertise.”
