Test drive an IT career with us!

As a solutions architect and manager of IT security and compliance, Willie’s days are busy
juggling all types of issues and solving an array of problems.

Creating IT Futures Foundation and CompTIA announced the availability of a new video series on IT careers that allows viewers to see first-hand what different technology jobs are like. Cybersecurity, networking, web design, customer support, data analysis and project management are just some of the careers featured.

“The best way to find out if an IT career is right for you is to take IT for a test drive,” said Todd Thibodeaux, president and CEO, CompTIA. “You’ll learn quickly that IT workers are problem solvers who interact with co-workers and customers, creating and improving technology solutions to enable organizational success. They’re on the leading edge of innovation, with great opportunities for career advancement.”

IT professionals from ASI System Integration Inc., a leading independent provider of IT services and solutions across North America, and CompTIA serve as role models in the video series, all showcasing different angles of the IT industry. The videos complement CompTIA’s Certification Roadmap, a free, interactive tool to help job seekers identify career paths and relevant professional certifications for a variety of tech disciplines.

There were nearly 600,000 IT job postings in the U.S. during Q4 2014, according to Burning Glass Technologies Labor Insights. The IT industry needs more qualified applicants to fill those positions.

“IT jobs are indispensable, and more and more IT pros have become the go-to people in their companies,” said Charles Eaton, CEO, Creating IT Futures Foundation. “These videos and our other IT career programs and certifications demonstrate how an IT career offers stability, flexibility and unlimited potential. Plus IT jobs offer salaries well above the national median wage, which is great for families.”

“You don’t need to be a math wizard or a programming savant,” Thibodeaux added. “Employers across all industries are looking for people with a passion for technology, the drive to solve problems and the personality to work collaboratively as part of a team.”
