    After a successful pilot class last spring, Creating IT Futures will bring its free IT-Ready career program back to Portland, OR, this fall, allowing adults to get trained for their first jobs in tech. The eight-week IT-Ready class funded by Worksystems and the Urban League of Portland will be hosted at CENTRL Office on NW Everett in Portland starting October 23.     To grow the information technology (IT) workforce and the diversity within tech in North Carolina, Creating IT Futures and TEKsystems are partnering to bring the IT-Ready career program to adults in Charlotte. For the first time in the state, an eight-week IT-Ready class, supported by Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont and Charlotte Works, will start August 14.     21 Schools Selected for New FUSE Studios with CompTIA-Funded Tech Activities for Students

    As part of its NextUp initiative to interest teens in tech careers, CompTIA has partnered with FUSE at Northwestern University to equip 21 schools in nine states each with an interactive FUSE Studio. Each studio allows dozens or even hundreds of students to dive into challenging, self-directed projects ranging from using SketchUp to design their dream home to using a 3D printer to make jewelry to building their own solar-powered mini-car. CompTIA and FUSE also will collaborate to build three IT-focused challenges designed to expose youth to various IT professions and career pathways in fun and engaging ways.
