GameChangers: David Caldwell, El Dorado High School, El Paso, Texas

David Caldwell, in partnership with CompTIA's Authorized Academy Partner Program, is changing the lives of his students. His innovative program at El Dorado High School gives students the training and certifications to graduate IT job ready, whether they are college bound or not.

Watch our GameChangers video and see for yourself how David is making a difference at El Dorado.

Eric Larson, director of IT Futures Labs, writes:

“There are certainly a number of exemplary IT programs in the CompTIA Authorized Academy Partner network that are worthy of spotlighting. El Dorado High School intrigued us because of its high percentage of students coming from low income families, as well as its consistently high number of students who certify in CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+.

In addition, we’re interested as a foundation in bringing more Hispanic youth into IT careers, and we thought that getting to know a majority Hispanic high school would teach us a great deal.

El Dorado and the Socorro Independent School District have terrific administrative leadership, and there is a huge amount of school spirit amongst the student body. Together these two realities support the work of David Caldwell, El Dorado’s computer maintenance program instructor.

We hope this video which provides a glimpse into El Dorado’s success will inspire other schools to create their own computer training programs that prepare students for real careers in information technology.”
