IT-Ready: Aiding The Long-Term Unemployed

Nearly 40 percent of all unemployed persons have been searching for a job for 27 weeks or longer. That’s about 3.8 million Americans.

Did You Know?

  • The longer someone spends unemployed, the harder it becomes to find a new job (Source: Urban Institute). That’s partly because the long-term unemployed receive 45 percent fewer call-backs from employers compared to the recently unemployed (Source: Kroft, Lange, Notowidigdo).
  • Long-term unemployed are more likely to get discouraged and stop looking for a job, are more likely to withdraw from social networks that can help them find a job, and are more likely to have their skills erode over time
  • Long-term unemployed are three times more likely to experience depression than full-time employed (Source: Gallup) and nearly five times more likely to live below the poverty line
Our 8-week IT-Ready program gets long-term unemployed individuals working again by training them toward CompTIA A+ and connecting them with a paid apprenticeship that rebuilds their confidence and refreshes their resume.
