  • A Bright, Shining Star: Pomeroy Wins Polaris Award

    The Creating IT Futures Foundation recently awarded Pomeroy with the Polaris Award, given to a company that is leading the way toward information technology (IT) careers for those in need of career opportunities. Pomeroy, a leading IT services company based in Hebron, KY, was recognized by the nonprofit foundation for taking on five newly trained IT workers from the foundation's inaugural IT-Ready program, the most of any company in 2012.

  • To Build a Career: CompTIA Tech Team Shares its Knowledge

    It’s not every day that Edgar Flores gets to teach a group of students how to build a computer from the ground up. Fortunately, these students weren’t afraid to dive right in. “When it came time to building the computer, they recognized everything from their prior learning and it turned out to be a breeze for them,” said Flores, 23, a network engineer at CompTIA who, along with his colleague Robert Winchester, is volunteering to get more young people interested in information technology (IT) careers.

Julius Clark of Wells Fargo Bank; Diana Ermini of OnForce; and Hayward West of Deloitte Consulting were selected to help guide the Foundation as it continues as the philanthropic arm of CompTIA and deploys its new IT-Ready Apprentice Program in its first two locations, Cincinnati and Minneapolis / St. Paul.
