Tech Career Aspirations of Today’s Teens

Having a job they love, getting more training after high school, and going to college rank above making a lot of money for today’s teens.


When it comes to weighing the value of tech careers, urban Hispanic and African-American teens align pretty closely on most fronts. Having a job they love, going to college, and owning their own home are priorities shared across the board.

Recent surveys we conducted among urban teens and parents sought to clarify attitudes and expectations regarding IT careers. In the third installment of our series, we’ll share some of the nuances of the aspirations of today’s teens and what motivates them.
