Enjoy fun hands-on STEM activities, check out tons of different STEM organizations and museum booths from across Chicagoland and enjoy one-of-a-kind live science shows and demonstrations. Information Technology Month in Illinois
April 2017
Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner declared April 2017 as Information Technology Month in IL to celebrate the important work being done by IT professionals statewide and to encourage students to understand the growing opportunities in IT and the workforce. CompTIA, Creating IT Futures and their partners have slated several events during April to help students and adults learn about IT careers and trends and connect those students and adults to employers for jobs. Charles Eaton of Creating IT Futures will host a session on “Creating Statewide Career Resources for Teachers, Parents and Students” and present his new book, How to Launch your Teen’s Career in Tech. National Summit for Educational Equity

The globalization of the American economy has increased the need for a workforce prepared for new and emerging high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand careers. Preparing every student to be college and career ready and ensuring successful postsecondary credential, certificate, or degree attainment is critical to meeting the current skills gap, especially in STEM fields. During the summit, educators, leaders and counselors gather ideas to implement in their schools. Charles Eaton and Gretchen Koch of Creating IT Futures will present a session on “Defying and Dismantling the Diversity Issue in the Tech Industry”. Together they will share real-world examples of work-based learning programs, from organizations such as IBM and Cisco. Register here.

A 501(c)(3) charity was established in 1998 by CompTIA, the Information Technology Industry Trade Association, as a way to help people improve their lives through IT careers.
